The Downstairs Unit - Perfect Live/Work, Studio, or Retail Space
The downstairs unit of the Sowell building was constructed in 1947 to house the Sowell Pharmacy. Over the years it housed a variety of different commercial enterprises including a fresh fruit and vegetable market in the 1950's and early 1960's, a pawn shop from the 1970's through the 1990's, and a custom motorcycle building. The space was vacant for several decades before we purchased it and extensively renovated it in 2022 and 2023 with the goal of creating an ideal live/work space for an artist, crafts person, or anyone needing a large open space with high (12 FT) ceilings.

Renovations included the demolition of all interior walls, construction of a new kitchen, bathroom, utility room, and loft, replacement of all windows, and installation of high lumen overhead lighting.

The space is about 1500 SF in size, divided between about 1000 SF of open area suitable for use as an art studio, shop, or classroom. The remaining space could function as office or living room, kitchen, and a storage or sleeping loft. There is one off-street parking space in front of the premises.

Rent is $1050 per month plus gas and electric. A one-year lease is required. Security deposit is $500.
